ALL CAPS emails lead to woman's firing

Vicki Walker was abruptly kicked out of her job for sending "confrontational emails" with text formatted in a variety of red, bold, and all caps fonts. Walker had sent the emails to fellow workers within the company, usually with stern and detailed instructions on how forms should be properly filled out. Someone at ProCare didn't like her approach, suggesting she caused "disharmony in the workplace" and was being too confrontational via email, eventually firing her without warning. Walker, however, got the last laugh. She sued for wrongful termination and won the case, pocketing $17,000 in lost wages and for other unspecified harm caused due to the firing. WHAT DO YOU THINK? Graphic Anti-Texting Safety Video Is Internet Hit

A graphic British public service announcement about the dangers of sending text messages while driving has become an Internet hit and sparked debate around the world. The Gwent police force in Wales said Wednesday that an extract from a video it made for use in schools has been viewed more than 6 million times on YouTube and other Web sites since it was posted last month. The 30-minute film shows a bubbly teenager named Cassie — "a nice girl from a nice Gwent Valleys family" — who triggers a pileup that kills four people when she tries to send a text message while driving. The graphic, slow-motion depiction of the crash shows heads going through windshields, bloodied bodies and the lifeless eyes of a baby.

Outrage Grows Over Ad Showing Planes Crashing Into NYC

The World Wildlife Fund is joining a growing chorus of voices expressing outrage over an ad bearing its symbol that shows dozens of planes bearing down on lower Manhattan with a tag line that reads, "The Tsunami Killed 100 Times More People Than 9/11." The ad was leaked in the week prior to the anniversary of the attacks of Sept 11, with copy that states, "The planet is brutally powerful. Respect it. Preserve it." Minnesota Vikings' Brett Favre: Report of cracked rib was misunderstanding

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre said a report that he might have cracked a rib on the last play of his preseason debut Aug. 14 was a misunderstanding. During a production meeting on Saturday, Favre reportedly told ESPN's Monday Night Football crew that he suspected he had cracked a rib when Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Corey Mays drilled him, ESPN sideline reporter Michele Tafoya said. After the Vikings' 17-10 victory over the Houston Texans, Favre said Tafoya misunderstood him. "I said, 'If there was ever a time that I would have gotten a cracked rib or wanting to stay down on the turf, that was it,' " Favre said. "I have no idea (if it's cracked). But there's nothing you can do about it, first of all. "Really, I don't believe it is. It doesn't feel great, but I think I'll be fine." Favre said there were no X-rays. "Say there's a crack. There's nothing you can do about it," he said. "You can play with it." Vikings coach Brad Childress downplayed the possible injury. "He is fine, by my knowledge," Childress said. Just Favre looking for an excuse if things don't go well.
