It's that time of year again, where speculation of Brett Favre's return to the NFL rumors start an onslaught of the sports talking heads rumor mill. Favre was asked about the status of his retirement and his response was "At this time, I am retired and have no intention of returning to football." At this time I think Brett wants nothing more than to be released by the Jets so that he can sign with the Vikings and compete in a revived NFC North. Although Jet Favre choked at the end of last season, losing to the guy he replaced in NY, Chad Pennington, he is still much better than Tavarris Jackson and "Parsley, SAGE, Rosemary & Tyme" Rosenfels. Here Comes the Crew!
The Brewers are 8-2 in their last 10 games and brought out the brooms to sweep away the Pirates yesterday. Yovani Gallardo not only struck out 11 yesterday, he homered in the 7th for the game winning RBI. Tonight they take on the Arizona Diamondbacks at Miller Park 7:00 pm.
Yesterday's Highlights
And then there we're 4
Idol Confessions: I watched the opening number and I actually thought it was awesome. No lip syncing and bad dance moves, just the best top 5 that Idol has ever had doing their thing. America got it right, as hard as it was to cut Matty loose, the top 4 remain. The sight of Adam in the bottom two was shocking to some, but his performance was WAY over the top on standards week. He is like Elvis meets Freddie Mercury with a touch of Liza Minelli and Axl Rose sometimes. Don't get me wrong, that guy is the most talented of the bunch, but sometimes people are turned off by overly flamboyant performances.

CDC Key Facts About Swine Flu
The Swine Flu virus has spread now to 11 states and just yesterday my daughter told me that she was told at middle school that if the stage moves up one more notch that they would be instructed to stay home from school. It's probably not a bad idea to get the facts from the CDC. Click on the pick to get them.

I'm Watching Back to Back Idol on DVR Tonight
Alright, because I had softball last night, I did not see Idol. My plan is to watch back to back American Idol after the Operation Spaghetti Dinner IV. I will of course make sure to skip the terribly lip sync'd opening number. All I know is that Kelly Wilde says that he thinks Allison should go and I certainly hope that's not the case with Slash mentoring the final 4 on rock week.

Vacationer Thwarts Pirates with Cruise Ship Lounge Chair
62 year old Wyn Rowlands saved the day on the MSC Melody cruise ship as he noticed a speedboat full of armed pirates trying to board the ship. Wyn did the first thing that came to mind. He grabbed a lounge chair from the deck and heaved it at the pirates and then sounded the alarm, which made the captain of the ship able to out manuever the band of pirates. The 1,000 passengers and crew of 500 were about 600 miles off the coast of Somalia. I am sure that we have a plethra of 62 yr olds aboard cruise ships thoughout the world....pirates beware!

Only NHL Playoff Pub, Is Bad Pub
It's no secret that I am a huge Hockey fan and have been enjoying the fact that the Chicago Blackhawks advanced by beating the Calgary Flames 4 game to 2 last night. But very few are talking about what a great sport and great time the NHL playoffs are, they are talking about Donald Brashear's cheap shot hit on Betts of the Rangers. Not talking about some of the amzing saves and goals that have occurred, just the violent side. It's a cheap shot, but I have seen much worse. Keep your head on a swivel when a goon like Brashear is on the ice. Any coach will tell you that. Click here to see it.
Slash asked to be Rock Mentor next week
G & R/Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash, has been asked by the American Idol producers to be the Rock mentor on final 4 week. I can't wait to see him work with Adam and Allison. Make sure Allison stays in America! That chick can rock. Click on Slash for a rockin' solo video.
Kim wants to know what you think?
Reality TV Diva Kim Kardashian recently fell asleep on the beach in Mexico with her sunglasses on and had racoon eyes, now she goes sort of blonde. Sup with the Kardashian? Could just be show material, but I'm sure some of her stalkers are dissapointed. They shouldn't worry at this point though, because it was just a whig. On her show, Keeping up with the Kardashians, they showed former Olympic Decathalon Gold Medal Winner an her step Dad Bruce Jenner getting a colonoscopy? Who wants to see that? Fianc'ee still in love with Craigslist killer
Megan McAllister is Phillip Markoff's fianc'ee and she says that she still loves him. Problem is that he is the "Craigslist Killer!" What on earth is she thinking? Does she have a death wish? Would you stay with your fianc'ee ladies if he was accused of killing multiple women? Oh, we are still not sure if the wedding is off, but the Bruce Springsteen cover band "Bstreetband" has been told that they won't be needed on August 14th. Click on the pic for the full story

FRANKE'S NFC NORTH DRAFT GRADE
Packers: Ted Thompson actually traded up in the draft to nab the most versitile USC LB available in the draft, Clay Matthews. They adressed they need for an anchor in the middle of the new 3-4 D formation in taking BC standout NT B.J. Raji. Both of those moves were just what the team needed. My only question marks in the Packers draft was the selection of LSU FB Quinn Johnson in the 5th round, when CB was still a need with a declining Al Harris. Overall Grade: B+
Vikings: I thought it was a no brainer that the Vikings would use their 1st round pick for a RT, which was without question the biggest need when you have the NFL's best back, but that of course means that Childress would go with an off field problem child in Percy Harvin. Anyone who is stupid enough to hit the "hippy lettuce" before the draft when they know their gonna test, is a moron in my book. He does have some serious talent, but who knows if he'll get to play? OT Loadholt from OKL was a stretch and Brinkley at LB was a good pick. Overall Grade: C
Bears: After getting Jay Cutler from Denver, Da Bears traded entirely out of the first day of the draft when the WR's they wanted were gone. They had a very interesting day 2, adressing some major needs on D, by bringing in a speedy athletic D-linemen by the name of Jarron Gilbert. You will hear this guy's name a lot. The Bears picked 3 WR, starting with Jauquin Iglesias from OKL, a solid number 2 and a speedster by the name of Johnny Knox, (not to be confused with Johnny Knoxville) allegedly the fastest WR in the draft. They added a LB from OH ST, Marcus Freeman, a steal in Rd 5. Overall Grade: B+
Lions: Everyone knew if they could work out the deal in time that the Lions were going with Matt Stafford the GA QB. They did, although in my opinion they needed to build up front with Jason Smith, who to me is the best lineman I have seen in years. With that said, who did the rest go? Not that good overall. They picked a stud at TE with the 2nd 1st rounder, which may be a late need with all the talent at TE in the draft. They got a great S in Louis Delmas, but skipped on Ray Maluauga from USC. They only picked one OL, which means to me that they are going to have to sign some guys, or Stafford will be David Carr. Overall Grade: D+

Franke's Top 6 Idols Right Now
Adam was consistant again. I would love to see him hit the road with a revamped Queen. Allison is a pure "Rocker" chick, love the voice. Danny is a solid voice, but it's going to be hard to top Adam right now. Chris is the ladies favorite when he picks the right song and Anoop Dog can actually sing, he just picks a bad tune for himself every other week. Matt has finally hit the skids and Lil just doesn't get it. Click on the pic for the latest Idol.
