Aaron Dott (UW-Whitewater) took off right where he left off last summer as he led the La Crosse Loggers to an impressive 5-0 opening night win over the visting Thunder Bay Border Cats in front of 3,102 fans at Copeland Park.
Dott (1-0) tossed seven shutout innings, surrendering only two hits and a walk while striking out nine. Clayton Gant (Tennessee) came on and struck out the side in the eighth and Craig Crumbly (Florida Gulf Coast) pitched a perfect ninth to seal the victory.
The Logger offense was led by lead-off man Tony Mueller (Winona State) who went 4-5 in his Logger debut. Chris Engell (San Diego) also added a pair of hits. Clic on the pic to go to the Loggers site.
The Loggers and Thunder Bay will finish this two-game set tonight. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. at The Lumber Yard. It is 100.1/Miller Lite night at the Loggers. See you there!
