Microsoft, Sony take aim at Nintendo during E3

Microsoft and Sony debuted prototype motion controllers for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 at this week's Electronic Entertainment Expo, but the only gadget unveiled by gaming leader Nintendo was a device that Wii users can use to check their pulse.
Microsoft's controller, codenamed "Project Natal (NUH'-tall)," combines a camera, depth sensor, microphone and processor running proprietary software that eliminates the need for any button-mashing device.
Sony's wand-shaped device has a light-emitting sphere that can be recognized by the Playstation Eye camera. It was demonstrated with minimalist software that transformed the device on screen into objects such as a sword, flashlight, whip and gun with one-to-one motion control.
The expo is being held in Los Angeles.
